FCSA
Common
Sense and
Other
things you need to know
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to game time prepared to
officiate.
- Dress for success.
75% of our problems start with the way we enter the field. Arrive on time, dress neatly (socks and
pants up, shirt tucked in, 2009 patch on straight, black shoes), stand up
straight, introduce yourself to both coaches, start the game on time.
- Keep the games on time.
Respect the time of your referee partners who work the later games
(as well as the spectators, players and coaches of those games). Nothing wrong with starting the game a
couple of minutes early and blowing the whistle after 5 minutes at half to
start getting them back together.
- Game reports must be filled out for ejections and some
unusual circumstances.
- We’re providing the water, fruit, snacks and Gatorade.
- You can reach me any of the following ways:
- I need 48 hours notice of your inability to keep your
commitments. Understanding that
emergency situations do arise, contact me as soon as possible
otherwise. However, remember I also
have obligations to the club, players, coaches, your referee partners and
the game in general. Excessive turn
backs and turn downs of games will not tolerated.
- I will actively seek to fill each game with the
referees who can:
- Learn from the game and
- Learn from each other
- About a week in advance so everyone’s schedules can be
planned.
- I will be doing roving and formal assessments each week to give both positive and negative
feedback on our performances. I
expect us to learn and improve each week we are here.
- I am here to provide
support for you by giving you the tools to become the best officials
you want to be. I intend to provide
you with written info, verbal stimulus as well as general pointers. While many/most of us are here to make
money, we are also here to have fun.
Putting ourselves in better positions on the field will lead us to
having more fun.
- Know the rules and spend time researching answers to
questions or situations. Feel free
to reference www.law18.net for many of
your answers or links to them and other fun stuff.
- Collect rosters and passes prior to equipment checks
and return after each game.
- Only rostered coaches may be
on the bench side.
- Feel free to ask whatever questions at any time.
