Welcome to Law18 .net.
My intent is to provide a broad base of information for referees of all levels of experience. I will not, however, claim to be the know all, and will only offer my, and other officials', experience in ways to help make your officiating more fun.
My referee objective is common sense and spirit of the game.
I'm hoping there's something you can take away from this site that will help you improve your game. Some of the pages may contain advice and techniques that you will not find in any FIFA Law book, and may not be taught in your ordinary referee class or recertification.
But, there's a difference between knowing the rules and knowing how to referee. Understanding the art of refereeing would imply that you know the rules, but you have to have the common sense to manage the
spirit of the game.
And, your training should be never ending, that is, our education is found not only in the classroom and on the field, but also in informal meetings with other referees, our own reading of material either given to us or found in magazines, books and the internet, meetings, watching TV and various other "informal" methods that can help improve our game.
Once this site is fully updated (who knows when that will be), there should be plenty of resources to help you handle the ordinary, and sometimes not so ordinary, occurences on and off the field.
Ever felt like this before?

Let's face it, you have to be a special person to do this: take abuse from parents, players, coaches, etc. and do it, basically, as a volunteer, by the time you figure in all your registrations, driving time and gas, clothing and equipment, etc. That's right, it's for the love of the game. If you don't, you won't last or do what you said you were here to do: act as a facilitator of the game so all abide by the rules and the game is decided fairly.
We, that is, coaches, players, fans and officials are here for the same thing. We're just different participants to that end.
I hope you can take your time and browse through our resource pages and images. We are always adding and updating and welcome your thoughts, suggestions and contributions.
